On Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, the Hospice Caring staff held a "heartfelt thanks" volunteer appreciation evening at the Cottage. The standing-room-only event was attended by over 100 volunteers and guests. They enjoyed catered hors d'oeuvres, listened to a variety of musical entertainment by the band RAGS, and watched the premiere of the 2011 Camp Caring video. Hospice Caring thanks RAGS, Festive Occasions, Unlimited, and Mt. Airy Liquors for their part in making this a festive time for all who attended.

2010

On Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, the members of the Hospice Caring staff held a volunteer appreciation evening at home in our beautiful Cottage. During the three-hour event, over 100 volunteers and guests enjoyed meeting television news anchor JC Hayward, WUSA 9, and our Executive Director, Jeannette Mendonca, in the Cottage's living room. In the kitchen, a beautiful furnished dollhouse donated by Janet Woolschlager was on display. Many gathered in the resource room, where they met friends, enjoyed the melodies of harpist Judith Mostyn White, watched our hospice videos, and looked through Camp Caring photo albums surrounded by the donated quilts and teddy bears. Artist Kitty McNaughton demonstrated origami butterfly making, providing personalized gifts for the volunteers. Hospice Caring gives a special thanks to Roots Market, See's Candies, Kitty McNaughton, Steve Ornstein of Edge Floral Event Designers, Jimmy Gladhill, Ronnie Brouillard, bonnie Sakmar, and Kay Geyer.
